I can confirm that the calculation is working fine but the figures are so low that zero is being displayed. One reason for this is that the Solar storage cylinder is completely uninsulated. Changing this to 200mm factory insulation, for example, increases the figure in the Compliance report above zero straight away. Likewise for the Distribution Pipes. Also, please note that because the Collector Loop Heat Exchanger data has been set to default SBEM will take pessimistic values for this.

However changing all of the above will only provide marginal improvement so I would recommend checking your storage options, as these can have a huge impact. For example, including storage of 800l with your DHW 'Boiler System', and then selecting a 400l Combined cylinder for your Solar storage will greatly increase the result. After doing so this will also increase the effectivenss of additional panel area.

Please note that the above is general guidance and I would strongly recommend getting in touch with your accreditation scheme providers as they will be much better placed to offer specific design advice.

Hi, yes we did think of this and my colleague tried this. He input an area of 50m and also he tried 100m but it still only showed up as 0 on the BRUKL document.

Hi Jasmine, as the area is quite small the panels may be having so little affect that they are being rounded down to zero. As a test could you try a much larger area and see if that works?

Hi Jasmine, the DHW systems listed under the SES tab correspond to those that you have set up under General>HWS.

For example, if you set up a DHW as below (and then apply it to rooms) then the highlighted system should be selected within the SES tab.

Hi I've gone into Hevacomp to check this, but that's just the problem... Under the Room Data > DHW system for rooms in zone it doesn't even give me the option of what is under General > SES.

Hi Jasmine, thanks for clarifying. The article you referenced is in relation to Solar Collectors - these are completely different and separate to Solar Thermal Panels.

There are a few things to look out for in relation to Solar Panels, but the most common reason for what you describe is that the correct HWS has not been specified. In Part L > General > SES, the DHW System selected must match that specified under the Room Data > DHW system for room.

Another possible reason would be if the room types selected do not have any hot water usage, as specified by the National Calculation Methodology.

Should the above not help to resolve the matter then please let me know and I can take a look at the project.
