Building Opening

Hi,

What is the best way to add openings to external walls in hevacomp? There doesn't appear to be a native feature and I haven't had much luck using custom windows/doors

Matthew - I'm unsure why you would want to include an opening in an external wall? What calculations are you intending to run and what are you hoping to achieve with the opening?

The opening is on a riser to allow services into the buiding. There is a very coarse mesh covering it but I doubt this would have a significant impact

I don't think you're going to be able to model this very accurately, and by the description, the room can probably be ignored. You may need to adjust adjoining room data to consider the infiltration into the space, however.

Alternatively, if you were intending to run Design Simulation calculations on the structure, rather than steady state calculations, you may be able to model the room using airflow paths to represent the opening.
