Hello,
I have just uploaded the full set of .csv files from the CIBSE weather data for all 3 sites within London and I am struggling to apply them within Hevacomp. When I try to use CIBSE data set in the standard menu it is still giving me the error message 'Weather file not found on disc. CIBSE weather data must be purchased before use.' I can browse for the .csv files but do not know which data set to use in order to run a summer design year simulation. I believe the closet weather set to the site I am looking at is London Weather Centre but I do not know weather using future data or existing weather data is the best way to go. Any help anyone could give would be massively appreciated.
Many thanks,
Gareth
Hi Gareth,
I'd firstly like to check that the CIBSE data was saved on your machine as detailed in this document?
Also, when you say standard menu, where do you mean exactly - is it the Weather Data menu?

Shane

Hello Shane,
Thanks very much for the reply. Please see this screen shot showing the weather data and the .ndx files in the CIBSE folder within the weather data folder:
The standard menu I am referring to is this one:
And this is the error message I keep on receiving:
Do I need to use the Browse function i order to force it to use a certain set of weather data or should it be able to define which weather set I would want to use without using this function? Also, I have put all of the .csv files in to the program data. Is it possible that hevacomp isn't picking them up automatically for whatever reason?
Any help you can provide would be invaluable.
Please note that Hevacomp can use CIBSE's future or current weather data, but not the combined data. I'd advise checking with CIBSE that this is not the combined weather data.
The only reason the software would not pick these files up is if you have not placed the index files on the machine as well - i.e. the final three steps detailed in my previous link.
I believe that it might be the combined data, however, there are separate files for the future data and the 1976, 1989 and 2003 data sets. I have also followed the final 3 steps and ensured that both index files are loaded. It is a little confusing as to why it isn't working. I can browse for the weather data and make Hevacomp run the simulations for each of the 3 years using the DSY data as advised by CIBSE when running overheating calculations in London using the GLA guidance which can be found here: https://www.cibse.org/getmedia/6a84dc3f-0040-4998-adfd-51ad8c980ba3/Weather-data-FAQs2017Oct.pdf.aspx
It is a bit frustrating that hevacomp isn't running these automatically but I cannot see any other way to make it work. If you know of anything I might be missing that would be very helpful. Obviously there are many sets of data for each of the 3 London sites. Would that have anything to do with it?
The locations are not appearing as the Combined data is not compatible with Hevacomp. You will need to obtain the separate current / future data sets (options 1 & 2 here).
Then, once the index files are in place, the future data files will appear in the software as follows:
Alternatively the Browse button allows for flexibility of navigating to any weather data file that you wish, inclusive of TRY, .DSY, CSV and .EPW formats. However you will still need to choose the relevant weather data file appropriate to you. This is not something we can advise on unfortunately. I would suggest clarifying with CIBSE as they would be better placed to advise.
