header

Could you tell me please how to connect a header to 2 pipes heating system please?

  • The problem is, the header doesn'r appear on the schematic. Do we need two headers for flow and return? and after connection pipes into the header it doesn't seam real to connect the incomimg pipe to header..

  • Headers can only be placed on flow. You should draw your flow pipe to the point you wish the header to be. Then draw the header. Then connect your other flow pipes into the header.

I have made a very simple project available for you to examine. You can download it from here.

  • I don't think this is correct, nearly gave up, ended up with some pipe's mess..

  • If you examine the sample project I provided, its pretty much the same system as you have, but drawn left to right, rather than right to left. You need to draw your main flow pipe in. Connect the header to the main flow pipe then draw your flow sections that lead to the radiators back into the header. It may help to turn the header through 90deg.

Also...you should ideally be connecting into the radiators with twin pipe, again as indicated in my sample schematic.

  • Duncan,

Thank you for your help, I just wonder if it possible to record a short video how to get all connections correct to the header (flow and return), it would be useful I think not only for me, but for all new users. I am a new for this software, but after spending ages connecting pipes rather than doing some engineering stuff, not sure even if its finally correct. I have got a heating sytem with lots of headers and I could not even imagine how to get it done and be confident what I am doing.

  • Hi Maryna - apologies - I've been out of the office for a couple of days. I think there may be a problem with the header, and I will be generating a ticket with our developers. It appears the hit box and snap are interfering with each other. You can work round this, however, by clicking close to the center point. Hopefully this video will help. You can also download the test project from here.
