Dulin, re-posting exactly the same text is not helpful. Please confirm if the issue you have is with Hevacomp software or another program. If it is with Hevacomp you should update to the latest version to fix the issue.

Kevin - I don't really understand why an different log ins would produce different results. Until we can generate a programmatic solution for this, my best recommendation would be to roll the last Windows update back.

Cannot find correct place for new variable to the situation, however we have machines with this problem which after logging in as administrator and applying the 2 stage fix allowed the administrator to open the database. Returning to the original user who now has administrator privileges the problem persists, any way of clearing the problem, registry clean up etc. ?

I didn't recall seeing anything particularly extreme in our remote session. At this stage about the only suggestion I have left is a rollback for the Windows update or a computer rebuild, even though I'm still not 100% convinced it was an issue with the 1803 update as you have an updated Windows that is working with the software.

Can you ask your IT to roll back one of your computers?

Nothing at all in Downloads as we try and keep that empty. Some stuff in Documents, but I wouldn't call it lots. There is an old "Hevacomp Projects" folder in there.

I came across an article that suggested having a large amount of files linked off from things like Documents folder could cause the issue - it was an old issue, but I thought it might be worth a try, as creating the new user wouldn't be linked to all the other users folders.

If you check the folders for Documents, downloads, etc, are there a large number of files in there?

Our IT team created a new user account on machine 1. Same issues.

We also have a Windows 7 machine which I've just installed Update 6 and it still works fine.

Duncan, we have 3 machines;

1. Winver 1803 OS Build 17164.48 (This is the machine you worked on this morning).

2. Winver 1803 OS Build 17164.81 (This is the identical machine to the one above)

3. Winver 1803 OS Build 17164.81 (This is the "clean" rebuilt machine)

I have done a clean reinstall on machines 1 and 2 and there is no change from previous.

Machine 3 now seems to be working fine.

I have not created new accounts yet.

Hi Keith - can I ask you to run a WINVER command on both your machine, and your colleagues computer? (Click the start menu, and type winver, and it should appear) and let me know what they are?

And one final thing, could you try and create a new user and see if the problem manifests itself using a new, empty account?

Duncan, I can see DAO2535.TLB in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\Hevacomp.

On each of our machines we have an admin account used only for install/uninstalling and UAC is set to the lowest level.

Hi Keith - That's very curious - there should be DAO350.DLL and DAO2535.TLB in there. I can't really see that the Windows update would remove items that are required by programs to run (the installer database would stop that) but I also can't think of any other process that would remove them.

On the new machine...are you logged on as administrator with UAC turned all the way down during the installation process? UAC appears to have been tightened up recently, and that could stop components being created.

Also, can you check in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\Hevacomp

and see if you can locate the DAO2535.TLB file in there? The install should create that in both places.

Hi Duncan, the only thing I can see in there on all 3 machines is a file "dao360.dll".

Also, our IT people thought you should know that we are using Windows 10 1803.

One of the machines has just had a rebuild, so we are reinstalling on a "clean" machine and we get the same error.
