My project has very large South East facing windows and the morning sun is causing major solar gains.
I know the architect intends to install blinds - how can I force DDB to see these to prevent the gain?
I have set up the windows with blinds. How do I know the system is taking these into consideration.
Also does it make any difference to the gain calc if I tick the operable box for the windows?
Regards
Craig
Hi Shane
Many thanks for the prompt reply.
WRT - "tick the operable box for the windows"? look at your second image just beside window type there is a tick box for operable windows.
It made a very minor change to my heat gains when ticked.
I was hoping the gain would account for manual opening of windows.
Hi Craig, thanks for clarifying! To model window openings in your DDB calc's you would need to incorporate them into your air change rate figures in the room data.
Alternatively, more complex openable window simulations can be carried out by using Simulator, in which you can specify window opening strategies through Flowpaths in CAD Input.
