Energy calculations (Heating energy), Simulator

Hi,
I'm trying to run energy calculations to compare two systems: heating via LTHW boiler and via electric heaters. What I have noticed, I can only run calcs for wet system only. Is there an option to run energy calculation for electric heaters?
Also, I've tried to use 'Simulator' option but I've got a warning saying that weather data is not available for this location (Cardiff). How can I solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Patrycja.

  • Hi Patrycja - The scope of the program is described in the manual (available by pushing F1):

To compute annual heating energy, three different system types can be specified:

    •Heating only (wet system)
    •Warm air
    •Heating and humidification

Piped systems, such as radiators, are heating only.  This system uses a pump and will inhibit data for fans, duct system and supply air information.  Warm air systems and heating and humidification will assume all warm air circulation and the program will simulate the operation of a fan for the system.

For air systems, fresh air requirements can be specified as all fresh air, fixed fresh air or variable fresh air.  If the fixed or minimum variable amount of fresh air is known, it can be specified.  If not, a fresh air change basis and amount can be specified.  An air flow is computed using the average room temperature and the specified supply air temperature.  The computed air flow rates for each room will be adjusted to comply with specified maximum and minimum air change rates

With regards Simulator programs, you need to define a Summer year or an Energy year to use the calculations. Information can be found here.
