Why is my total ceiling area so small?

I've got a project with 1 room. I've created the roof and ticket the ceiling grid box.

When looking at the room data it shows the Total Ceiling Area as 1.7m2 and the Total Floor Area as 251.8m2 which doesn't seem to add up.

Any ideas?

  • Hi Chris,

It will not affect the roof fabric, just the room volumes. For the roof fabric you would need to incorporate all layers of the whole roof structure from ceiling to roof - see further info from manual below:

If you check the Flat ceilings under this roof check box, it is assumed that all rooms will have a flat false ceiling and there will be a closed roof space on the under-side of the roof.  You must specify the required height of the false ceiling from the floor level.  When roof elements are now added to rooms, the appropriate roof and/or ceiling data will be added, depending on the height of the false ceiling and the roof arrangement.  All sections, including ceilings, will be exposed roof, to reflect the composite roof structure.

You should ensure that, when you set up the roof level drawing, that the roof types that you use to define roof sections, correspond to the exposed roof and roof/false ceiling constructions that you will be setting up later.
