Hi,
I am trying to model a pitched roof which has a number of flat roof dormers built into the pitch of the roof.
When I go to model the vertical parts of the dormer, the vertical parts of the roof form a rectangle shape which appears to form a wall within the room below the roof.
Is there a way of modelling the vertical parts of the dormer roof so that they form a triangle shape which follows the pitch of the roof?
Thanks
Andrew
Thanks Shane
Hi Andrew,
I would firstly advise entering two separate roofs - one just over the ground floor and one just over the first floor (ie attic/dormer rooms). This will allow you to select only the relevant floor beneath each roof, and will stop irrelevant wall sections rising up to meet roofs when set up.
Secondly, you will need to be very careful that the outline of the roof matches that of the rooms below, and fully covers them. See image below where this is not the case - this will cause problems when setting up the roof,.
The above should also resolve the issue with the vertical roof section not correctly meeting the line of the pitched roof. Please let me know how you get on.
