Duct Sizing Run-time error 9

I am using V8i SS1 SP10 and an getting a Run time 9 error when adding a pipe to a floor connector and rising the pipe vertically. Deleting the associated duct on the floor below and redrawing results in the same error. Also group deleting and redrawing does not help. Any help appreciated

  • Hi Stephen

The project zip file has been uploaded together with floor dxf files if you need them. There are 3 levels, Ground level 0, Fist level 1, Roof level 3. A general note has been added to the problem floor connectors. The ground floor ductwork rises through the first floor to roof level, a FCC has been added at ground floor level, duct height 3.5m FCC level on floor 1 0. When adding the vertical duct at first floor level setting the duct height to 0 finds the FCC but when the height is changed to 3.5m the run time error occurs. I have tried deleting the ductwork and outlet and redrawing and got the same run time error.

    Will appreciate your advice.

  • Hi David,

I've been unable to replicate the Error 9 but having looked at your floor levels and the system in isometric view I think it may be related to the values you are using to create your floor change connectors. None of your floor heights are 3.5m so that isn't an appropriate value to use. When defining floor change connectors you should consider the height of the floor you are connecting to. We have a useful WIKI on how to correctly draw floor changes to ensure you get all your duct lengths correct as the calculations only consider duct that is actually drawn. No duct length is implied from floor change connector heights.

The image below is from your project and as you can see there are gaps between floors where risers should be.

Below is a section I created to show the finished floor levels (FFL) and floor to floor heights you have in your project. This will help when adding floor change connectors in line with the WIKI I mentioned above.

Try completely deleting and redrawing the floor change connectors for the sections you are struggling with and see if this resolves the issue which I think may be due to using incorrect heights.

    Best Regards
    Steve
