Hi again Steve all sorted thanks for you help - for some reason other installed printer had been made the default? When I re-selected the network office printer as the default printer Nimbus was able to import my project data OK. So thanks again for you help today.

Hi Stephen - thanks for the wiki i will take a look but just to let you know that I am on Windows 7 OS and have started working from home ...usually I work from the office and print to a network printer. Could working from home be the issue do you think?

Hi Alan,

It's likely that there is an issue with your default printer or it's driver. Nimbus does check your default printer and settings (paper size etc) at start up. Please check out this Wiki for possible causes and solutions.

Afternoon Shane

I am having more difficulty with my project at the moment...and following on it now transpires that the Nimbus lighting package can not import the project Design Database without throwing up a dialog box with Run Time error 482 Printer Error is this connected to the file path data issue I had earlier?

Hi Shane - I got there just before you posted...found the Project.ndx file and opened it in notepad. It was completely wiped out! also the PATH.dat file is gone! and so with a little bit of sideways thinking, I made a test project in Project Explorer to see what was written in the Project.ndx file. Then I manually copied my other projects using the same syntax and voila! back in business. Project Explorer can now see and launch all of my current projects...Thanks for you help much appreciated.

Hi Alan, thanks for the details. This is what I would have checked next, so I think you are on the right track. However the software will not be able to update the required files if it does not have full access to the server, so I'm guessing that's why it didn't work for you.

There are two files that determine the path, these are located in your Hevacomp projects folder on your C drive. Could you please navigate there and find the following files, and open them in Notepad to see the path that has been specified:

PATHS.dat

Projects.ndx

Please then:

1. Manually edit the path to that required, and save both.

2. You need to have the exact same files in your Hevacomp Projects folder on your server, so please then copy both of these files and place in your Hevacomp Projects folder on your server, overwriting any that exist there.

Hi Shane - I have some news. I checked the paths to Hevacomp Project Explorer project data and it was incorrect and pointing to my C: drive? I navigated to the project folder on my P: network drive and copied the file path into the system manger Change path to Hevacomp Explorer projects. But it did not work. I think this is the nub of the issue. I think I am missing the project references set up by Project Explorer in the main path to the projects...can you help in any way?

Thanks Alan, your IT will firstly need to ensure that you have full admin permissions to the server in question, as at present it sounds like your security settings are preventing access somewhat - please see here.

UAC fully disabled - set to never notify. And ran application as admin as requested. Afraid no change still no projects defined in Project Explorer. Should point out that my company IT administers all machines and I do not have Admin rights etc. My machine is running Windows 7.

Hi Alan, thanks for the details. Could you please firstly try these two things:

1. Ensure UAC is fully disabled - see here.

2. Try running Hevacomp as admin, by right clicking on the shortcut and selecting Run As Administrator.

Morning Shane - thanks for you prompt response. I can navigate and open to the project database - and other projects - using the Windows path/file option of the Hevacomp Project Explorer design database package. But when trying to navigate to the project using the Project explorer, a dialog box opens which states there are no projects defined and to use Project Explorer you need to add a project, so that Data files can be associated with a project. The dialog box offers a selection to use Windows file or Add Project buttons. I am not getting any error messages but it would appear that the network drive is not appearing in the project selection menu?

Good morning. This sounds like a Windows permissions issue - I am guessing that there was a Windows update which has changed your security settings. Is this occurring for all projects or just one? Also, are you getting any error messages, or is the network drive just not appearing in the project selection menu?
