Casual gains

I have found something strange doing a CIBSE heat gain calculation, when we set up the rooms, if you set them to standard, it adds a casual gain depending on type of room (e.g. office, waiting room, etc).
However, casual gains seemed very high on the final calculation. Trying to troubleshoot it, I set them manually to 0 in "room data", inside of cad input.
I then re-run the  CIBSE heat gain calculation, and I still get casual gains, which seem more inline with what you'd get using rules of thumbs (w/m for lighting, computers, and people).
Do you know why this would happen?
Thank you.

  • Hi Jose, the Standard values for the room design conditions are taken from the relevant design standard and the relevant data for each room type can be viewed or edited if you like, via the Standard menu, as below:

You should be able to view the room type in question and pinpoint the source of the gains. However, as you mention these can also be manually adjusted in your room afterwards, should you require.
