How to apply diversity to gas pipe sizing

We are just working on a school with a number of labs and a fairly huge number of gas taps. Without allowing for diversity the pipe sizes are a bit ridiculous. There is a setting at the outlets for a diversity factor but it reducing this from 1 to 0.75 doesn't seem to make any difference to flow rates and I don't see how a diversity factor at an outlet can take account of diversity for a system.

Is there any way to include for the diversity in the gas system?
