Hi Aakil,

No problem at all! Glad I was of help. TRV files are not supported - only TRY (test reference year) and DSY (design summer year). I assume you mean TRY rather than TRV?

That sounds mostly fine to me, it all depends on your requirements but usually I believe that when running Frequency a DSY file would be specified, to model the overheating worst-case analysis.

I have been adding the .trv files to the 'select new energy weather data' and the .dsy files to the 'new summer design year' option under weather data.

Then for the 'select weather year option' shown below under frequency simulation I have selected the .trv file before running the TM52 report.

Would you be able to confirm whether my methodology is correct please.

The files are a different format to the those shown in the list, so that explains your difficulty.

You can however easily use whichever file you require by just instead using the Browse option:

Just select All files as below:

Once you have picked the one you want, it will be added and used in your project:

And will appear in the Simulations as below:

One thing to note is that CIBSE's combined type weather files are not compatible, so it would be worth checking with them to make sure this is not what you have been given, ie as mentioned here:

Hi Shane,

I have placed the data files directly in the CIBSE folder like shown below. I have closed down Hevacomp and started it back up, but I am still receiving the error message when I click 'add new energy year'. under Norwich cibse weather year.

I realised that there are 3 types of Norwich DSY files, so i deleted type 2 and 3 from the Hevacomp>weather file>cibse folder and tried opening it up again with just type 1 Norwich DSY file in the folder. Unfortunately, the error message still came up.

Please can you help?

Hi Aakil,

Great, that looks like the correct location now.

The NDX files are for the future data only, so you can disregard that step.

You will just need to place the data files directly in the CIBSE folder, eg as below:

Thanks Shane I've found the folder and copy and pasted the CIBSE DSY and TRY files in the correct location shown below.

However, when i try to select the Norwich weather data file, its still coming up with the error message shown above. I have not purchased the future weather data files, only the current ones. I have tried following step 1 of 3 on the 'Installing CIBSE weather data' article, however the links to download the .ndx files are not working. Please can you help?

Hi Aakil,

Thanks for the images - that confirms the reason for this. Your screenshot shows the Program Files (x86) folder.

The weather data is not at that location - it is located in the Program Data as listed here, ie:

C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\Hevacomp\Weather Data\CIBSE\

If you cannot see you Program Data folder this will be because of your Windows settings - please see here.

HI Shane,

Ive had to manually create a weather data folder and within that create a cibse folder. This is where i have saved both my Norwich DSY AND TRY files. I am trying to add these files to the weather data on Hevacomp, however it keeps on saying "weather file not found....". I have tried following step 1 on the 'installing cibse weather data' of downloading the ndx files, however the links do not work.

Alternatively, i have used the browse button on the weather data to get the correct files up. I have used the TRY files for the ' select new energy weather data file' and the DSY file for the 'summer design year'. I have now run the CIBSE TM52 report and got results. Would you be able to clarify if firstly I have uploaded the correct TRY and DSY file to its correct location in Hevacomp weather data and secondly, if the alternative steps I have taken to complete the cibse TM52 report is correct.

I cant see no weather data folder after i click into the Hevacomp folder.

Could you please reply with a screenshot showing what you mean?
