How and where can I find the relevant training courses/exams to become a Part L Energy Assessor. Able to register BRUKLs and EPCs

The last relevant Blog regarding becoming an Energy Assessor is from 2021, i am just wondering whether there has been any updates and details on the cost of the course, time needed and exam structure.

  • Hi Ali,

Yes indeed, there have indeed been many updates and improvements since then, would be happy to help clarify:

Most importantly - the PartL calculations are available in the current version of the software - OpenBuildings Energy Simulator.

This includes the latest 2021 PartL regulations, for which it is fully approved. All related announcements about PartL, including  updates, training, and exams, can be found on our Energy Simulation Forum

Exams: These are now completely online, hassle free, and only have a very minor fee. Each exam date is announced on the above Energy Simulation Forum when available. The next exam date is to be listed shortly.

Training: All related training courses have been made available to Select users free of charge.  You can find link to this training on each exam announcement - eg most recent one here.

Support: The PartL interface and workflows are very similar to that of Hevacomp, however we have many resources to aid you with getting started. I would suggest that the best starting point is the Energy Simulator Communities website  - here. This goes step by step through how to get going on the software, from download and install, to starting a project, and finding training.

If you need any further specific advice, or would like a session with support or further training, please just let us know.
