Error 6 when trying to run Design Database or Netsys

Hi

My computer has suddenly started throwing up an error message when I attempt to run either Design Database or Netsys. I have been using these regularly for several years including up until last week, but now cannot run the software.

I can log on as far as the main menu "Hevacomp Design Software" screen, I can use Mechanical Design apparently as normal.

But when I select Design Database I get "Error 6 - Overflow". If I select Netsys then click on any of the sizing options (Ductwork, Heating, Gas, etc.) the same error message results.

Hevacomp version V8i SS1 SP10 (V8i SS1 CP3 (06/16)).

Windows 11 Pro, Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621.

Connection Client is updated to latest version.

Any help would be appreciated!

That was it. Seems to be sorted now. And the root of the issue is a while back our IT system was updated to use One Drive for file storage, including our Hevacomp Projects folder, instead of saving to a local server. I had to find our Hevacomp Projects folder in Windows Explorer and highlight the entire path, then paste into the path on the Hevacomp Paths setup screen. all seems to work now.

What confuses me is it has been working fine even after/since the One Drive implementation, but suddenly stopped working more recently.

I'll keep a PDF of this thread in case we have problems again!

    Thanks for the help.

  • Hi Bruce,

You should have a folder named "Hevacomp Projects" on your C drive, usually at:

    C:\Hevacomp Projects or C:\Users\<User Name>\Documents\Hevacomp Projects

    Could you please:

    1. Go to where your above folder is and in there you should find three files:

    HEVUSERS, PATHS.DAT, PROJECTS.NDX

    2. Please move these to a temporary location such as your desktop.

    3. Start Hevacomp as normal and it should prompt you to enter the config details afresh

That should let you in. Let me know how you get on,

    Shane

  • Hi Shane

Bad news I'm afraid, finally had time to do a clean re-install of Hevacomp and I now can't get into anything on it. "Run-time Error 6 - Overflow" every single time, just when running the Hevacomp shortcut from the Start menu.

There have been no recent changes to my installation, prior to uninstall/re-install just now.

There are two other engineers in the same office as me, on the same network with similar spec computers and both of their Hevacomp installations still work as normal.

  • Hi Bruce,

I expect this is down to your config settings, particularly the path to where your Hevacomp projects folder is saved. If the reinstall does not work, please let us know if there was any changes made recently in this regard, or any related files/folders moved/deleted.

    Regards,

    Shane

  • Hi Bruce,

    Thanks for the update.

Yes, please try to uninstall Hevacomp first and then try to reinstall it once again.

Please do let us know if this worked or not.
