  • Calculations - Occupancy and heat gains

What takes precedence for people gains - is it the Standard room input data, or the definition of activity types? VS. The activity types are referenced below are from this thread: https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/performance/w/building_performance__wiki…
  • Does anyone have experience of modelling an air supported structure to ascertain the heat loss.

We have a project where our client is looking to provide a new air supported structure/ dome over an existing training pitch, the structure is to be heated and cooled as required. Can this be modelled using Hevacomp.
  • Adding NCM Construction Databases (standard library / inference) to Hevacomp Materials & Glazing Database

I have been using other building modelling software that make use of the standard NCM Construction Databases for library / inference. Are there any plans for the NCM Construction Databases to be added to the Hevacomp Materials & Glazing Database?
  • RE: Part L Glazing

Hi Andrew, Yes, you just need to enter the manufacturer's figures into the Glazing Properties section, in the top right of the Glazing Data menu. Please see further information here . We would also recommend obtaining Solar Gain Factors from the manufacturer…
  • RE: Modelling a zone (room) within a zone (room)

Hi Stuart, Modelling of such spaces can only be directly achieved in Hevacomp Simulator by using Atrium key words. However if you wish to use Design Database for level 3/4 Part L calcs then there are three workaround options available - please see further…
  • Incorporating more than one wall type in a section of external wall using DDB

On typical single storey warehouse buildings where blockwork cavity walls are often used for the lower section of external wall, and either single-skin or double-skin metal sheeting is used above the blockwork walls up to the roof line, how can this be…
  • RE: Plant Schedule

Hello Matt, Can you clarify which software you wish to do this in? Are you talking about Design Database - PartL or Dynamic Simulation? Regards Steve
  • RE: Two internal ceilings when I add a roof.

Hi Tony, You need to use the Setup Exposed Roofs command to connect your roof surfaces to the rooms below. This article may be of assistance.
  • RE: Yearly Gas Useage

While these results are not directly available in the software, the Energy calculation in Design Database may be helpful as it will provide the annual energy usage in GJ. You could then use these figures to work out your gas consumption.
  • RE: Bill of materials/Material take off in HEVACOMP

Thanks for clarifying. The Schedule and Print functions should provide what you require. Please see here for further information.
  • RE: Adding a layer type on wall build up

To follow up on this matter; guidance on how to set up custom layers can be found here .
  • RE: Deleting Roof

Should any other users require further guidance on roof design then please see this article .
  • RE: wall heights

Hi, Please use the 'Setup intermediate floors/ceilings' function (located in CAD Input > Roof/floors ) to set up the adjacencies between these floors. This will remove all gaps between your floors.
  • CIBSE Gain - Temperature rise

I understand that you get different heat gains in the following scenarios: Within CIBSE gain tool allow temperature to rise by 1degC Within room data increase summer design temp by 1degC There is a calculation procedure for the first scenario…
  • RE: Glazing database - effect of adding blind on G value and Shading co-efficient - CIBSE Gain

Hi Michael, It is my understanding that the Uvalue and light Transmittance figures will not be affected by the blind, while the Shading Coefficient and SHGC would definitely be impacted. However the glazing manufacturer will need to confirm this for…
  • RE: CIBSE Gain - Results Breakdown

Matthew, you have probably turned on Temperature Rise in the Design Data tab. When you use Temperature Rise the individual loads are combined in the underlying equations and cannot be accurately split out afterwards.
  • RE: CIBSE Gain - Results Breakdown

Hi Matthew, It sounds like you may be looking at the Summary report? If you click on 'Full' in the bottom left you should see such a breakdown of the results. Further guidance on each of the individual loads can be found here.
  • RE: Uncontrolled heat gains

Hello, Please post your second question regarding CIBSE Heat Gain to a separate thread and I will try to answer it there. With regard your question on Summer - The Summer calc uses Operative Temp as defined in CIBSE Guide A5 Section 1.2.2. This equates…
  • Why is the Hevacomp BRUKL Document not showing Solar Thermal Systems?

Hi, Please would someone be able to help me. I have been trying to complete an SBEM for a client and this one part of the BRUKL document won't show up when I run the compliance section of the Part L in Hevacomp. On the roof of the building in question…
  • RE: Hevacomp Zone definition

Hi, The best way to zone your building largely depends on what results you require. The following excerpt from the manual may help to clarify: Rooms can be placed in particular zones and floors so that zone and floor sub-totals can be selected and…
  • RE: Modelling variable wall construction in single element

Hi Roy, it may depend on the type of calculation you are doing as to the best solution. The simplest option is to create an Exposed Wall in Fabric Data using the layer data for the above ground wall. Once created you can adjust the calculated U-Value…
  • RE: Level 5 DSM SBEM & EPC; .

Hi Shaun, to simulate the atrium space you would need to draw the rooms as usual, but name them according to your Atrium Keyword (in Simulator > Design Data > Atrium Spaces). For Example if your keyword was ATRIUM, then the rooms should be named ATRIUM…
  • RE: Walls, partitions and sections

Chris, to extend on Duncan's answer you should consider the following. Steady State calcs such as CIBSE will consider the temp on the other side of a partition. When using CAD Input this will default to the design condition specified for the adjacent…
  • RE: Glazing data

You can also change all, or specific glazing for the project by using the Global option on the main Design Database menu. This allows you to make changes for specific rooms\all rooms. You can also restrict changes to only change existing glazing of a…
