Netsys Heating Pipe Sizing - Emitter Questions
Inox Pipes
Hi this is Riya from Inox Steel India . I haven't used Hevacomp in a long time, so please excuse any trivial questions. I'm attempting to model a relatively large project, and I've already placed all of my emitters (some ceiling void, some floor level…

Calculations - Occupancy and heat gains
Drew Roche
What takes precedence for people gains - is it the Standard room input data, or the definition of activity types? VS. The activity types are referenced below are from this thread: https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/performance/w/building_performance__wiki…

CIBSE Gain Queries
Graeme Matheson
I have turned off infiltration, ventilation, occupants and casual gains from my model to test the solar load portion only. However I still see loads attributed with "Convective" and "Latent" (albeit small). Should these loads exist in my calculation…

Validation
Chris O'Donnell
I'm new to Hevacomp and looking to find out: 1. Is the Heat Loss and CIBSE Gain elements of Hevacomp v8i validated in accordance with CIBSE TM33? 2. Is there a list of the standards that CIBSE is validated against? Thanks in advance.

RE: Window glazing properties, CIBSE Gain
Shane Regan
Hi Kenny, The different standards used by each Hevacomp calculation prescribe their own equations, each requiring their own particular variables. In the case of the CIBSE Gain calc the most important variables are the Solar Gain Factors. SHGC is not…

CIBSE Gain - Temperature rise
Michael Charleson
I understand that you get different heat gains in the following scenarios: Within CIBSE gain tool allow temperature to rise by 1degC Within room data increase summer design temp by 1degC There is a calculation procedure for the first scenario…

Limitations, assumptions and approximations of Hevacomp, particularly CIBSE Gain
Brendan Fox
I am wondering if you could help point me in the right direction. I am wanting to better understand what are the limitations of Hevacomp in terms of the underlying assumptions and approximations that the software uses. I am mostly interested in the…

Glazing database - effect of adding blind on G value and Shading co-efficient - CIBSE Gain
Michael Charleson
I have created a new glazing type for use in the CIBSE Gain tool. Now I want to create a second glazing type which includes a blind. I have used the calculations in the CIBSE solar gain factor guide and modified all of the solar gain factors accordingly…

Discrepancies between result table and graph
Gary Jackson
Using CIBSE Heat Gain to show solar gains and fabric loss I have noticed that the graph does not match the results table for one of my rooms. Instead the results in the Graph of the are roughly double the values in the table. Any ideas as to why this…

Very high CIBSE Solar Gains
Gary Jackson
I modelled a simple 5mx5m glass box with no heat transfer across the floor or ceiling and I created a custom glass to replicate a Pilkington glass (U-Value of 0.6 and g-factor of 0.55). When I checked the solar gains using CIBSE Gains they were 10.8kW…

RE: CIBSE Gain - Results Breakdown
Stephen Brown
Matthew, you have probably turned on Temperature Rise in the Design Data tab. When you use Temperature Rise the individual loads are combined in the underlying equations and cannot be accurately split out afterwards.
