    Overview

We are occasionally asked if its possible to take a computer loaded with Bentely Hevacomp software home for the weekend, so work can be carried out offline or disconnected from an office network.

    Method

NOTE: To set this up you will need a client installation of Bentley Hevacomp software.

Regardless of where you store your projects, you should have a folder on the root of your C: drive called Hevacomp Projects.

This folder may not contain projects, but it does contain some control files and information about your software. At the moment, these files are likely looking at a location on a server where you store your projects. When disconnect from the network, this will cause issues.

The following steps will help with setting up home and office modes, and transitioning between them.

    1. Ensure the software isn't running
    2. Use Windows Explorer/My Computer to navgiate to the root of the C:\ drive
    3. Locate the Hevacomp Projects folder and rename it to Hevacomp Projects (work)
    4. Start up the software. This should start the configuration process.
a] On the "Change Main Paths" tab there shuold be no need to modify
b] Check the "Regional defaults" to ensure data is correct
c] Check the "Customer details" tab to enter you company details, if required.
      d] Close the configuration screen
    5. You should now be asked for your user details (initials and name) enter these and continue to the main menu
    6. Now exit the software again and use Windows Explorer/My Computer to navigate to your C:\ drive where you should see a Hevacomp Projects and a Hevacomp Projects (work) folder
    7. Make a copy of the new Hevacomp Projects folder and name it Hevacomp Projects (home)

You should now have the following folders in your C:\ Drive:

    Hevacomp Projects
    Hevacomp Projects (home)
    Hevacomp Projects (work)

and your software should be set to 'home' mode.

To switch from 'home' mode to 'work' mode:

Copy the contents of Hevacomp Projects (work) into Hevacomp Projects

To switch from 'work' to 'home' mode:

Copy the contents of Hevacomp Projects (home) into Hevacomp Projects

You should consult with your IT department as to the best method of making projects available to run in Home mode and also how best to get them back into your system afterwards.

This information is provided as reference only. Bentley Hevacomp can take no responsibility
for any issues being raised from switching between locations
