    Overview

Daylight factors can be calculated for Design Database projects.

    Method

An Electrical Designer license is required to use this functionality

Daylight factors can be calculated through the link to the Nimbus program. The Design Database project will be imported into Nimbus when run from this icon.

This will bring you to the DDB Nimbus screen:

Then, to perform the daylight calculations:

    • Select the relevant room under the Select Room tab.
    • Click on any other tab to bring up the Nimbus room editor screen.
    • To enable the daylight calculations, select Calc Type  > Daylight.
    • Finally, select Calcs > Daylight, and choose the calculation type required. For example, 'Show daylight factor results' will produce the following results:

    Please note:

    • Daylight factors are evaluated on the working plane height, which is measured from the room's floor level. This should be defined in Design Database CAD Input>Room data (prior to importing to Nimbus), or under the Room Data tab on the Nimbus menu (after importing to Nimbus).
    • The calculation accuracy can be changed by altering the number of points in the calculation grid (under the DDB Nimbus > Graphic data tab). More grid points will result in a higher degree of accuracy, but longer calculation times.
