    Overview

It should be relatively easy to use different roof types when adding your roof drawing.

    Method

Once the roof DXF is loaded, the current default roof type will be displayed as type 1. If a different roof type is required, then this must be set before drawing roof sections. In this instance, the first set of roof sections will be drawn using the type 4 roof, so this is set before drawing:

And then the roof sections that are using type 4 construction are added to roof:

This project requires the rest of the roof to be drawn using type 2 roofs. So as above, this must be selected before roof sections are drawn:

And then the rest of the roof sections can be added:

This procedure can be carried as many times as necessary to ensure that the correct roof types are employed for the correct section. Once the roof is complete then you must use the Setup Exposed Roofs to push this information into your building database.

Once done, you will be able to use the Surfaces option in CAD Input to examine the roof types above a room.

An important thing to remember when drawing roofs is that the roof type selector doesn't indicate what type the existing roof sections are, but rather what type will be added next. To this end, when ever you go into Roofs/Floors, this option will have been set back to 1.

As can be seen here, with the example we have worked; the light red roof sections are type 4, the dark red are type 2, but when we re-enter Roof/floors, the roof type has defaulted back to 1. Any sections you added after this point will reflect this new roof type, while existing roof sections will keep the type used to draw them.

If you wish to override all of your roof section types, you can select a roof type and then push "Change all roof sections" - as with above, however, you will still need to use the Setup Exposed Roofs option to push the data into your building database.
