Introduction

The final version of Bentley Hevacomp V8i (v25) consists of three parts:

The prerequisite installation
The main design software installation
The final service pack for v25

Download instructions for the main installer parts (1 and 2) can be found here. The final service pack will be considered later.

All three parts must be installed to ensure you have the final version of v25.

We advise logging on as Full Administrator and turning down User Account Control before following the steps below.
During the installation process you will be asked to activate your software.

Method

Step 1

Ensure you have the main installer parts, and the final service pack.

Step 2

Run (right-clicking and selecting Run As Administrator is advised) the Hevacomp V8i v25 Prerequisite installer

HCPQ25000008en.exe

Step 3

Run the main design software installation by double clicking the file

HCOMP25000022en.MSI

This document refers to Version 25 Bentley Hevacomp V8i only

The Hevacomp software installation for V8i has changed slightly from previous years. The installation is now in two parts - Prerequisite and then the main installation. You can choose whether to install the software as a Client only or a Server/Client installation. Please read the attached document below for more details

Method

HCOMP25000022en.msi is the main design software installation
HCQP25000008en.exe is the prerequisite installation

For all installations you should ensure that you log onto your machine as a full local administrator.

For Windows Vista machines ensure that UAC is turned off and for Windows 7, 9 and 10 machines
ensure that UAC is turned to its lowest setting during the installation/activation cycle.

Client only installation

To install the software on a client machine, you should first install the prerequisites and then install the design software – you can do this by double clicking on the relevant file in your downloads folder and then following the onscreen instructions.

The software is provided as a ‘point release’ and the basic installation has not been modified since the first good build. To this end it is important to ensure that you are always running with the latest service pack installed. Please see the relevant document detailing application of the service pack/update.

You will now need to activate the software on the client machine. You should be presented with the Activation Wizard when you first run the software. Please see the relevant document detailing how to find your activation key.

Once the service pack has been applied and the software activated, you can revert to your normal system log in and run the software.

Server/Client installation

Server

Install the main installation onto your server machine. As the software will not be run directly on a server machine, there is no real need to install prerequisites on the server machine. Once done, share the installation location of the software (e.g. \\Server\C\Program Files\Heva25\) for your clients and provide them with a minimum of ‘Execute’ and ‘Modify’ security permissions – for preference, FULL permissions should be provided.

The software is provided as a ‘point release’ and the basic installation has not been modified since the first good build. To this end it is important to ensure that you are always running with the latest service pack installed. A further document can be provided that contains details on this. With this kind of installation, you should apply the service pack to the server machine.

There are no requirements to activate the software on the server machine.

Client

Install the prerequisites on the client machine.

Once this installation is complete, Open My Computer on the client machine and browse to the installation location of the V8i on the server machine, and then into the Programs folder e.g. \\Server\C\Program Files\Heva25\Programs\ Once there, run the file ”Server Setup.vbs” by double clicking on it.

Follow the onscreen instructions. This will install the Select Server License Client to the client machine and create a Desktop Shortcut to the Bentley Hevacomp V8i software.

Once the service pack has been applied and the software activated, you can revert to your normal system log in and run the software.

If you are installing to 64 bit versions of Windows, then your design software default installation path will be different to 32 bit versions of Windows
- For 32 bit Windows your default client installation path will be: C:\Program Files\Heva25\
- For 64 bit Windows your default client installation path will be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Heva25
Once installed, you clients will require certain permissions to be set up: The installation folder of the software (either C:\Program Files\Heva25\ or C:\program Files (x86)\Heva25\ or \\{Myserverlocation}\Heva25) along with C:\Hevacomp Projects (this folder will be created on first run of the software even if you store your projects elsewhere) and your main project location that the software will either inherit from an existing earlier installation or you will provide on first run of the software – all of these locations should be provided with full permissions for your client log-on.
You do not need to uninstall earlier versions of the software (that is to say V24 or V23 etc) – if these are currently functioning fine then they should continue to do so after your new software installation.

You should COPY the relevant file and then PASTE SHORTCUT on your desktop to give you access to the program.
