This document provides guidance on the difference between CAD Input Default Data and Global Change, and when each should be used.
The Defaults and Global Change can both be used to conveniently define many characteristics of your building, reducing the need to manually edit properties such as surface types and wall heights in CAD Input.
The Default data menu can be accessed in CAD Input by clicking on Defaults>Default Data:
It is strongly advised that these Defaults are set before commencing your model, as all rooms subsequently drawn will inherit the properties set.
Changing the Default Data will not affect existing rooms.
The Global Change menu can be accessed by clicking on the Global icon in the Design Database menu:
This can be used to change the properties of individual rooms, floors and zones after they have been traced in CAD Input.
Once the rooms have been selected and properties have been changed, the Apply Global Changes button should be clicked.
