Overview

This document details what to do should you have issues importing your DXF background into your Design Database project:

Generally, these issues can indicate that:

• The extents of the DXF are too vast
  
  
• The DXF is overly detailed
  
  
• Incorrect scale is being used

Method

To resolve this you will need to edit the DXF in your CAD software. The following steps should resolve this issue.

• Zoom to view the full extents of the DXF -  the "Drawing is too large" error (below) occurs when the X and/or Y dimension of the DXF exceeds a million scale units. To avoid this, please ensure that there are no objects placed a large distance away from the building plan.

• Simplify the drawing by deleting any unnecessary items - hatching in particular. Grid lines and furniture should also be removed.
  
  
• Check the scale of the DXF, and choose the same when importing.
  
  
• Ensure that no Ex-Ref's are being used.

Save the updated DXF. It should now import with no problems.
