    Overview

This article explains what to do should the below errors occur when running a Simulation.

    • "One or more errors/warnings occurred during the simulation":

    • Clicking on "More" gives a "GetSurfaceData: Construction of interzone surface" message:

    Explanation

If adjacent surfaces of a Design Database model do not have consistent fabric types, then surface errors can occur when attempting to run Simulations. This applies to the fabric of internal partitions, and internal floors & ceilings.

For example, the above errors are a result of incorrectly setting up the intermediate floors/ceilings as follows:

Selecting the same fabric type for both the ceiling and floor, and clicking on Set up intermediate floors, will resolve this error. This is because to properly represent the actual construction, the ceiling type must be a mirror image of the floor type of the adjacent room above.

For example, viewing Fabric Data shows that ceiling type 1 and floor type 1 are identical, but mirrored:

This ensures consistent thermal properties through the construction so that thermal transfer between the adjacent rooms can be accurately calculated.

Should you receive a similar error in relation to your internal partitions, then it may be worthwhile using Global change to apply the same surface types to all relevant adjacent rooms.
