    Overview

With a new installation of Bentley Hevacomp, the software will not include any custom cable types that you have previously used.

    Method

First of all identify your custom cable types. In this instance we have two files - NewCable1 and NewCable2. These are the FILENAMES of the cables, and not the descriptions. Ensure that these files are isolated and you have access to them.

Start Bentley Hevacomp's Connect program and load any project. Once loaded, go to the 17th Edition menu and select the Cable Data option:

From this screen select the "Add a new cable" option:

Enter a long and short description that is suitable for the cable data - It does not matter if these descriptions are different to the original ones.

Enter the file name for the cable data - this field must exactly match the name of the actual file. Click OK to move on.

There is no need to modify this data. Just click OK

There is no need to modify this data. Just click Finish

As I have two files, I would repeat the process for the second file. Once complete, the Index file would contain references to custom cable data (NewCable1 & NewCable2) and there should be two dummy files with these names in the cable data folder.

Exit the software completely and open the cable data folder in Windows Explorer. For version 26.06 you should look here.

Now copy your original custom cable files (and only the original custom cable files) into this folder, overwriting when asked.

You will now be able to use your custom cable files in the Connect program without re-entering them from scratch.
