    Overview

When using Design Database, you may find that you have a standard set of Fabric data that you wish to use on a number of projects.

In the directions below, ensure you do not have Design Database
open when copying files to and from project folders.

    Method 1

You can set up a new, blank template project in the following way:

    1. Start a new Design Database project in a uniquely identifiable project folder
      (for e.g. C:\Hevacomp Projects\DDB Template)
    2. Enter the data for your special fabric constructions, window data and fin data only. Do not enter CAD Input, load DXF files or enter any room data
    3. Exit Design Database

When you wish to start a new project using your standard data you can use Windows Explorer or My Computer to create a new project folder using your naming convention (for e.g. C:\Hevacomp Projects\14-12-06 Sheffield\) and then copy all of the files from your template project folder into your new project folder.

Now start Design Database and load the project from your new project folder. This will be as a new project, but with your fabric data in place.

    Method 2

If you have an existing project with your fabric data already defined and do not wish to recreate the data in a template project, it is possible to copy the fabric data from your existing project into a fresh template project.

    1. Start a new Design Database project in a uniquely identifiable project folder
      (for e.g. C:\Hevacomp Projects\DDB Template)
    2. Exit Design Database
    3. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, navigate to the existing project that contains the fabric data you wish to use.
    4. From the existing project copy all of the following files into your template project folder.
    LTABS CEILINGS EFLOORS FINS
    FLOORS GFLOORS GLAZING INTERNAL.S
      ROOFS WALLS

You can now use the template folder to set up new projects using the method described above.

    Method 3

If you have a current project that requires your common set of Fabric data then the above files can be copied from the template project into your current project.

    1. Backup up your existing project
    2. Ensure that Design Database is not running
    3. Ensure you copy ALL of the files listed.

These are advanced techniques. Failure to follow the guidance
carefully could result in a damaged project.

We strongly recommend assistance from your own
IT department if you are unsure of these methods.
