When importing a DXF file into CAD Input in Design Database, you must specify an angle through the model to South. The methods below explain how to calculate this angle.
The angle to south should be specified as the clockwise angle in degrees between a line drawn vertically downwards through the drawing and south.
Example 1
In this example, South is specified towards the lower left of the drawing. When a line is drawn vertically downwards through the drawing, the angle to south calculated would be 45˚.
Example 2
In this example, South is to the top right of the drawing. When a line is drawn through vertical in the drawing and the angle considered, it would generate an angle to south of 225˚.
In version 25 and earlier, the compass rose in the lower right of the screen indicated the direction to south on the drawing plan. From version 26 - to help alleviate confusion and align with convention, this compass rose will indicate the direction to north.
