Under certain circumstances unpredictable pipe size and velocity results may be calculated if the outlets in a CWS/HWS system are defined with very high loading units. An example system can be found below.
This is due to having insufficient outlet connection sizes combined with very high loading units. This causes extremely high pressures in the pipes connected to each outlet, which can only be met by increasing pipe sizes downstream. Looking at each outlet in the above example shows:
Increasing the connection size to one appropriate for the flow rate (from 15mm to 28mm in this case) allows for a much more balanced system, where the source pipes are reduced in size:
