    How do I consider split level floors?

    Overview

    There may be times when you wish to consider a split level floor in a project. While the software doesn't really allow a method for this, if you are careful you can work around this limitation, though it will involve a deal of manual setup.

    Method

    Each main floor and split floor should be set up as a unique floor at the appropriate height

     In our example, the project would have 3 floors. Ground floor at 0m, Split ground floor at 1.25m and First floor at 1.75m.

    Once you have drawn your rooms on each floor you must ensure that the room heights and wall heights are set correctly as you will not be able to use the setup intermediate floors option using this method.

    Finally, as this method doesn't allow for automatic interfaces to be defined between the floors and the split floors, you will need to modify your wall types to ensure they are set to Partitions, and with a temperature on the other side defined (sections marked I).  The same will be need where you have floor/ceiling interfaces. These will need to be set as internal floor/internal ceiling accordingly, with the correct design conditions defined for the other side. (sections marked f/c)

    Using this method may be time consuming and it may behoove you to consider each split floor to be on the same level as the main part of the floor.
