    Overview

Bentley Hevacomp software uses a third party program called Crystal Reports to provide reporting functionality in the software.

It has been found on occasion that Crystal Reports can stop functioning correctly after the installation of other software, or sometimes after a Microsoft update. This can manifest itself as an error that states ‘Unable to initialize...' or as your report being displayed as a blank screen. If this is the case, then it will be necessary to update your Crystal Reports installation.

    Method

Please follow these steps very carefully.

    1. Ensure that UAC is set correctly.

For Windows XP: UAC is not a feature of Windows XP.

For Windows Vista: Turn UAC off.

For Windows 7 and Windows 8: Turn UAC down to its lowest setting.

    2. Reboot/restart the computer to ensure these settings take effect.

    3. Log onto the computer using a local administrator password

    4. From the Windows Control Panel:

For Windows XP select the Add/remove programs option.

For Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 select the Programs/features option.

Locate "Crystal Reports Version 9 by Hevacomp Ltd" and remove this from your system

    5. Once removed, reboot/restart the computer.

    6. Log onto the computer using local administrator password.

    7. Download the Crystal Reports installer from here.

Note that you will need to be logged into your Bentley Systems account to download this item.

    8. Once downloaded, unzip the Crystal Reports installer.

    9. Right click on the SETUP.EXE program to start the installation procedure.

If at any point you are asked to provide an installation location then just click 'Next' - the installation location is not used with this installer.

    10. Once the installation is complete you should be able to run up the software and access reports correctly.

    11. If you wish, you can now reset your UAC settings and log back in under your normal user account.
