      Environment: N/A
      Area: N/A

    Problem

Bentley Hevacomp has stopped working after the Windows 1803 update. When attempting to launch Connect, Design Database, Netsys or System Builder, a "Run Time Error 91 - Object Variable or With Variable not set" is immediately encountered.

    Solution

This is due to the DESKTOP and/or DOCUMENTS folder being mapped to a UNC path. The following steps allow Network Discovery to locate these folders.

We strongly recommend you request your IT make these changes.
If you do not have IT assistance available, you MUST be logged on
as an administrator before attempting these changes

    Turn on Network Discovery services

    1. Left click on the Start Menu

    2. Type the letters Services.msc to initiate a Cortana search

    3. Left click to launch Services

     4. In the Services program, locate the following:

    Function Discovery Provider Host

    Function Discovery Resource Publication

    5. Ensure that both of these services are set to:

    Automatic (Delayed Start)

and ensure that both services are started.

    Close the services program.

Turn on SMB File Sharing Support

    1. Left click on the Start Menu

     2. Type the letters Windows Features to initiate a Cortana search

    3. Left click to launch Windows Features

     4. Locate the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing support and ensure it - and all of its sub entries - are selected.

     5. When requested, reboot the computer.
