During the installation of the software - or when the software is run up after an installation - the user is presented with either an "Unexpected Error; Quitting" message.
This is usually due to UAC settings stopping COM objects and Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL's) from being registered correctly.
You do not need to uninstall and reinstall the software. Please follow these instructions
First check that the correct items are installed. Do not uninstall anything. This is just a check to see that these items are extant.
From the Control Panel select Programs and Features and ensure that you can find the following:
For Version 25:1.Run Time Components for Bentley Hevacomp V8i 25.xx.xx.xx.xx2.Bentley Hevacomp V8i 25.00.00.xx(option 2 will not appear for server/client installations)
For Version 26:1. Run Time Components for Bentley Hevacomp V8i 26.xx.xx.xx.xx
(If any of these items do no exist for the version installed then please stop following this document and consult the documents in this section of Building Performance support solutions for help with downloading and installing Bentley Hevacomp software)
Now we have ascertained we have the correct components installed we should use My Computer or Windows Explorer, navigate to the installation folder of the software.
For Version 25:
With 32bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Heva25\
With 64bit Windows; C:\Program Files (x86)\Heva25\
Please check the Bentley Hevacomp launch icon for the location of Heva25
For Version 26:
With 32bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\With 64bit Windows; C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\
For Version 25:From the Heva25 folder, navigate into the Programs folderFor Version 26:From the Hevacomp V8i folder, navigate in the Hevacomp folder
In this folder, locate these four programs:
In turn, right-click on each of these programs and select the Run as Administrator option from the context menu. Provide an admin password is requested.
Note that you may receive an onscreen message after each program is run in this manner, or the program may open. If you receive a message click OK to cancel it. These messages are not important at this stage. If the program opens, then close it using the normal methods.
Once all of the programs have been run in this manner you should be able to run your software correctly from the Bentley Hevacomp V8i icon, or from the Start menu link.
