Hi
I am new to Synchro and was wondering if anybody could assist me.
I started a a Synchro Project Export from one of our federated Navisworks file on Friday afternoon at 4PM.
It took over 2 days to export, which is not practical (file size 300MB NWD file)
- Is this a known issue with this functionality?
- If so, why offer this plugin if it is not realistically productive?
- I understand this could be my inexperience and maybe just some settings, so can somebody who has had success please suggest what settings i should use to expediate this process.
OR
Does anybody have a successful workflow that works for them if transitioning from Navisworks?
Thank you for your time and understanding
Hi Ian,
The time taken to export an SPX file from Navisworks, using SYNCHRO Plugin, depends highly upon the size and the number of geometry in it. However, it typically does not take this much time!
Few pointers -
Also, please take some time to review this recording from one of the SYNCHRO Open Hours session, which talks about the synchronization process between Navisworks and SYNCHRO Pro - https://youtu.be/jTMgAfzmygM?list=PLwivaFFXYOsFyGVyKhsbcUZo28V5Y5Qzj&t=279

Hi Ian,I experience similar. I've learned to breakdown my exports as Arpit suggested. I also do a lot of cleaning before exporting eliminating anything I don't need in Navisworks search sets. I would also add to Arpit's note that in the options, checking "generate SynchroID" and "explode objects" adds time. Unfortunately, both are necessary for me to be checked but not sure if its needed for you? I also noticed its slightly faster the second time you may have to export if the GUID/Synchro ID isn't lost in the update.
