Interoperability (Synchronizing new schedule with existing schedule in Synchro)

While synchronizing new schedule using integrated command, every things are replaced from the new schedule in my existing schedule but we have made some changes in the existing schedule as a child activity, however that child activity remain there in the schedule but it goes under different parent activity.

Please look into this and suggest the solution of the same.

  • Hi Vikash,

There are two sets of unique identifiers in P6 (and SYNCHRO) - the Activity IDs and an internal GUID that is not exposed to users. If you simply change the Activity ID of an existing Activity, it will still have the original GUID. 4D Pro primarily references this GUID.

With newer versions of 4D Pro, there's a setting that can force it to use Activity ID's as a reference instead of GUID. Please check the following setting upon synchronization -

If you do not see this setting, can you please let me know your 4D Pro version?

  • Thanks Arprit,

I have applied what you suggested and after using Activity IDs TRUE, Child activity in revised schedule did not change there parent activity.

But new problem arise, one of our activity from exiting schedule remained there after synchronizing. However, we did not change in the activity, actually it should be replaced by our new schedule as we are using same activity code.

For your reference detail screenshot has been attached for your reference.

Please suggest a solution of the same.

  • Vikash,

I see there is no Activity Id for that highlighted Task in SYNCHRO. Is it possible that the Task was somehow duplicated in SYNCHRO and is not really coming in from P6? As far as I know, an Activity ID in P6 cannot be empty, unlike in SYNCHRO.

I would recommend doing a similar test in a new SP file.
