4D Animation for Overlapping activities

Hello Everyone,

I have 2 Overlapping activities. Now I want to assign resources to the task and display the same properly in 4D simulation without changing the task date mentioned in the Baseline schedule. For example: (Please check the attached image.) I have Secant Piling activity which has 2 tasks- Drilling and Concreting for PCC piles and RCC piles. Now I want to show individual piling in 4D so for that I have assigned the resources using "Create new tasks under the main task" option. The issue is that now as the activities are overlapping the 4D visualization is not happening correctly. The RCC Piling should happen only if the PCC Piling for the nearby 2 piles is finished. Any suggestions to tackle this issue without changing the dates of activities would be helpful.

  • Hi Nayan,

When you create new task under the main task, you must select the piling 3D component follow your sequence to do the piling.

The new tasks date will follow the sequence.

Or you can unlink the created tasks, and re-order the sequence.

Hope I understand your issue and this can solve it. If you still have query, let me know.

  • Hello Indrawan,

    1. I have added the 3D Elements in the sequence. But, as the 2 activities are overlapping, I am not able to control that the 2nd activity should start only after the 1st activity has finished, without changing the date. I have tried assigning the link between the 2 activities as finish to start, but that is not working either.

    2. Another issue that I am facing is that the 3D elements that I am assigning as "Create tasks under the main task" are not getting assigned with equal time duration. Ideally, all the child tasks should have equal time duration which is equally divided into the child tasks based on the main task duration, but instead the last child task is having more duration than all of the other tasks. (Please check the screenshot).

    3. I am also not able to change the duration of main task once child tasks are added to it. Ideally the duration of main task should be editable, and the duration should then be equally split among all the child tasks.
