SYNCHRO 4D Pro can import about 58 file types for 3D models including DWF, DWG, DGN, SKP, 3D PDF, and IFC. Multiple file types can be imported into the same SYNCHRO project.
Note: For a full list of importable file types, please refer to this wiki - 3D Models Interoperability
There are SYNCHRO plugins available that can export a SYNCHRO project format (SPX) from within Bentley MicroStation CONNECT(i-Model and DGN), Autodesk Revit (RVT), and Autodesk Navisworks (NWD and NWF).
Several best practices are listed below, they reflect the known methods of bringing model data into SYNCHRO.
- File tab > Import > 3D: SketchUp (.SKP)
- File tab > Import > SYNCHRO project: Revit (.RVT) using SYNCHRO plug-in for Revit to convert SYNCHRO project first (.SPX).
- Navisworks (.NWF preferred for Synchronization, .NWD) using SYNCHRO plug-in for Navisworks Manage to convert to SYNCHRO project first (.SPX).
- PDMS (.RVM): open the file in Navisworks Manage first, then refer to the Navisworks workflow.
- SmartPlant (.VUE): open the file in Navisworks Manage first, then refer to the Navisworks If you are unsure about the model import workflow, reach out to synchrosupport@bentley.com.
- File tab > Import > IFC: IFC Project file (.IFC)
