Gantt Chart / Task List Navigation

This section will quickly review navigation in Gantt Chart and Task List. Launch SYNCHRO 4D Pro from desktop, and open your previous work file (if you have one saved) or open F05.sp from .sp Files folder in the training dataset.

  1. In Task List, practice the following:

    • Grouping. Try to change to List mode, from the Plan ribbon > Grouping panel
    • Scroll
    • Collapse or Expand using context menu or shortcuts

  2. In Gantt Chart, practice the following:

    • Pan, Zoom in / out
    • Center a task in the Gantt Chart

  3. In Task List, you can also practice customizing columns:

    • Move 3D Resources column to the front of the Name
    • Rename the Downstream Total Float column to TF and display it as the last column.


  4. If WBS grouping is enabled, you can further adjust coloring of WBS or summary tasks in Plan ribbon > WBS Layout.

    • In WBS Layout dialog, you can select the DEFAULT layout or click Add for a new layout.
    • For the selected layout, you can adjust the Text and background colors for the individual WBS levels.
    • Click OK to apply the changes.

       

Sort and Filter by Column in Task List

We will practice Sort and Filter by column in Task List. Sort by column in Task List

  1. To sort on one single column, simply left click in the column heading you want to sort. Sort Ascending will be applied.
  2. A small triangle icon on the right of the column will indicate the sort direction. See below for an example of Sorting Ascending by Start date.


  3. Left click again on column heading to Sort Descending.
  4. A third left will remove sorting on that column. Try sort ascending and descending by Task ID, by Start or by Finish.
  5. To sort on more than one column, right click in the column heading, then click Sort to work on the sorting criteria.
  6. In the Sort dialog, click Add button to add a new sorting criterion, click to select in Sort by from the available columns, and click to choose between Ascending and Descending for Order. Click OK button to apply.
       

 

Filter by Column in Task List

  1. To filter on one single column, simply right click in the column heading you want to set filter by. For example, right click on Name.
  2. Click Custom Filter and you will be presented with the Filter by column ‘Name’ dialog. Click Add button, choose contains for Operation, and type in Steel for Value. Click OK button to apply the filter.


  3. A small filter  icon on the right of the column will indicate that there is an applied filter.
