Import Appearance Profiles from .SP
- File > Import > SYNCHRO project;
- Choose the SYNCHRO 4D Pro Project Template.sp file, then click Next;
- In Import SYNCHRO project window, click Skip All, then choose Import for Appearance Profile;
- Click Import.
- You will now be able to see the imported Appearance Profiles in the Appearance Profile window.
Import Resource Statuses from .SP
The process to import the resource status template to build a project is similar to importing Appearance Profiles. Be aware to Skip others and only set Resource status to Import in Import SYNCHRO project window.
Import Resources and Resource Costs from .SP
Materials resources like concrete or steel, as well as equipment, and human resources are all common in construction. Those resources are associated with unit costs from standards and historic company data.
The process to import the resources and resource costs to build a template is also similar. Be aware to Skip others and only set Resources and Costs to Import.
Import User Fields with Formula from .SP
Calculated User fields like "Concrete Volume" and "Steel Weight" are set up by user with a formula to calculate certain values can be imported from a SYNCHRO project. Please note that for the formula to work properly, all referenced data fields in the Condition and Formula for the Calculated User Field will need to be available in the SYNCHRO project file.
The process to import the User Fields with formula is similar to what has been introduced in the previous sections. Be aware to Skip other objects and set User fields to Import.
Conclusion
We can also choose to import multiple items (such as Appearance Profiles, Resource Statuses, Resources, Costs and User Fields) altogether at one time. This session provides a basic understanding of how things could be set up as a template based on our past project experience. On your own projects, you can be creative and reuse other content such as Calendars, Filters, Activity Codes, etc.
