Generating .har and .log files from your Web Browser for Synchro Control


To gather the full picture of an issue,  you may be asked to provide two files; a .log and a .har.

Console Log is a panel that can be displayed within any browser window [Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, etc.]. A Console log tracks important messages such as errors.

HAR Log tracks and logs all communication between a web browser and a Site. In this case, a Users SYNCHRO Control Project. 


Here is the process to obtain the .log & .har files.

To open "Developer Tools' in Google Chrome, Firefox, & MS Edge - CTRL + SHFT + i or hit F12 on the keyboard.


Console log (.log file)

  1. Select the Console Tab, and check “Preserve log”. If it is not visible, click on the cog and then the "Preserve log" option should appear.


  2. Navigate to your SYNCHRO Control Project in the same Tab. (Do not close Developer Tools)

  3. Perform the actions that lead to the error being shown in the SYNCHRO Control Project. 

  4. Once the error has shown, download the Logs by right-clicking in Developer Tools, and selecting “Save as...” 

  5. Save the file to your machine.

 

Network log (.har file)

  1. To download the Network Log click on the "Network" Tab and click on the downward arrow button as seen below.

     

Now you have can attach both the .log and .har files to your Support Request (or its response).
