Synchro 4D PRO poor performance due to windows defender

Scenario:

1. We are experiencing performance issues when working with SYNCHRO 4D PRO. We are not getting a crash from the software. It is just not performing as expected.

2. When accessing a Synchro Control file, functionality is extremely slow. We are able to save the project file locally.

 Solution:

Open the Resource Monitor, go to the CPU tab, sort by ascending threads, and see which processes are at the top when you open your local Synchro project or Control project in the Synchro 4D PRO app.

If you see that the MSMpEng.exe process is at the top or right after Synchro 4D PRO, then it is likely that Microsoft Windows Defender is causing an issue. If you are unsure of the status of your machine you can consult with your internal IT support or alternatively create a support case with Bentley and share the screenshot to review.

MsMpEng.exe is an important part of Windows Security, formerly known as Windows Defender.

See the link below in order to modify any company group policies to allow exceptions for defender. You should consult your internal technical support to make these changes.
