IFC export 3D custom linestyles

Because of Defect 975070 and inability to drop 3D linestyles to meshes or surfaces this renders it unusable in CONNECT for export. v8i is not an option as files created in ORD is read-only in v8i. Last hope is in iTwin Services as the development focus seems more dedicated and it produces best quality IFC.

Hi Oto, I recently struggled with this in CE. Try keeping your 3d linestyle in a rsc and dont import into a dgnlib. This allows me to drop my 3d linestyles to Meshes - but I agree iTwin should be exporting the same elements in its model to IFC.

Last resort but then I also have to convert all linestyles to meshes as delivered dataset has surfaces which doesn't drop either. Just wondering why we need v8 DGN if all are still using RSC, Index colors, none text style. Will fire up my old MS J.
 

Like this note is ridiculous why not simply use RGB?
Note: This resource library is configured for use with the MicroStation CONNECT Edition. The geometry it contains is based upon the default MicroStation color table. The 3D line style colors may appear differently when used in a DGN file with other than the standard color table.

I was also hoping to drop 3d linestyle to meshes and tried your method but it doesn't seem to work for me in ORD 2023 - it drops to lines. Just to clarify, instead of having the 3d linestyle available in a design file through a dgnlib (as part of workspace / workset), the linestyle needs to be imported to active file from rsc file? I tried this. Or, the rsc needs loaded in other way?

OK, I have found another way to make the linestyle available using the MS_SYMBRSRC and made sure it is not seen from a dgnlib. Unfortunately, this made no difference, the linestyle drops to lines - not meshes.

We have tried to convert our previous 3D-linestyles made as meshes into solids instead. We have found this to work a bit better for the exports/drops.
