Hello
From OpenRoads I have exported an alignment (plan and grade) as IFC alignment and I cannot see it in iTwin, the model opens but it is empty. My goal is to consult the plant and the profile of an alignment, do you know how? If in iTwin I share the native DGN file, IF I can check the alignment in silver and profile
Thanks a lot
Hello Santiago,
It is not necessary to export your dataset as IFC in order to upload it to an iModel and review its alignments. You need to use iTwin Synchronizer from within OpenRoads to do so instead. Once your dataset is uploaded into an iModel, you will be able to review the alignment's geometry (plan and profile) in iTwin by using its Civil tools.
Best regards,
Diego
Thanks Diego I understand what you are saying, in fact I have managed to check the alignment starting from a dgn:But I want to share ifc files to my client, and have him consult the data in iTwin. I don't want to share the native dgn files. Can you check ifc file alignments in itWin? Thanks!!
Hi Santiago,You would have to then "export" from iTwin as an IFC ... then process the results with the IFC connector ... and then you will have an iTwin that is built from IFC.Please note though that the user has no access to the DGN models ... yes they can navigate the dgn structure.when they make "comments" on the IFC model .. .I guess you will then make the changes to the DGN models. For more information on IFC Exporthttps://communities.bentley.com/products/digital-twin-cloud-services/itwin-services/w/synchronization-wiki/51481/export-to-ifc
Thanks for the feedback.
I understand that with the native dgn files and with the imodel, I can share the model and see the geometry of the axis in plan and profile.
But I regularly send my client an IFC file with the entire model (it represents the progress of the construction), and I would like that with that same file, I could also visualize the geometry of the axes, plan and profile.
with the ifc file you can? with the dgn of course:
Thanks!!
As described by Glen, you can use the "Export to IFC" option from any Named Version you create:
If you select 4.3 RC1 as the IFC version to target, the operation will write the alignments in the iModel according to the IFC-Alignment schema, introduced with IFC 4.1.
Later, you can import your IFC dataset into another iModel and you should be able to get the same plan/profile-review functionality inside Design Review.
At the same time, note that buildingSMART marked IFC 4.1 as withdrawn since they found some inconsistencies around their definition of alignments. As a result, there is no approved & released IFC schema for alignments at the moment. Bentley is doing its best to support IFC 4.1 but there may be issues in this workflow. Bentley will look to support the corrections related to the alignment schema in IFC once buildingSMART get it approved and released.
