    Reality Data

    • What permissions are needed to publish reality data? - ProjectWise Context Share permissions must be enabled for a user to be able to publish the reality data

    • How to configure ContextShare service for reality data uploading? - Open ContextShare Connection lin from the Project Details section and create a connection, where reality data will be uploaded.

    • When reality data is published? - PointCloud data gets Published when *.dgn file has local Point Cloud attachment created in the Design application (Microstation, OpenBuilding Designer, or other)
    • Where reality data is published? -  PointCloud data is converted to web-ready Tiles and uploaded to ContextShare.  iModel looks for a link to data on ContextShare and loads reality data in a Viewer.
    • How often is it published?  Reality data publishing is one time Process for a Project.  If reality data was updated within a field, it needs to be republished.
    • How does a reality show up in the iModel?  It is streamed into the iModel at the time we render it? - Point Cloud tiles are getting Streamed into the iModel. Reality data can be loaded and visibility is controlled in  Design review Reality Data picker
    • Do I have to attach POD files to a .dgn every time? - Yes, you need to attach POD or another type of real data to a DGN every time you are converting design data to an iModel. Currently, there is no other way to upload Point cloud data to ContextShare directly. However, if the reality data file was not changed, it will not be reprocessed.
    • What environments are supported for reality data publishing?  Reality data can be attached to DGn and published from these environments - Desktop, Cloud storage, ProjectWise
    Supported Reality data formats:
    • ContextCapture Data (*.3Sm, *,3mx)
    • PointCloud (*.pod)
    • Raster attachments
    • DTM, STM

Below are listed all  Methods to create iModels with Reality data.

    1. Working with the Geolocated Reality data:

    • Attaching a Geolocated Point Cloud data
    • Attaching geolocated reality data from Context Capture (3MX, 3SM)
    • Attaching local geolocated reality data

    2. Working with the Non-Geolocated Reality data.
