Attaching Non-Geolocated Reality data

This workflow  applicable for all type of data including Reality Mesh, Pointcloud or any Design data

In this example, we use Placemarks to geolocate any data and create GCS using those placemarks. Thought data is not geolocated but the user needs to know the location of corresponding Projects on earth, please follow the steps below.

  1. Download and open Google Earth application and navigate to Project Location.
  2. Create placemarks corresponding to key points on Reality mesh or Design data. (create at least two so that it will orient reality data correctly)

3. Save defined placemarks as KML files

4. Create a new 3D DGN file in MicroStation and attach non-geolocated reality data.

5. Place defined placemarks on Reality mesh\3D model using Define Placemark Monument tool from:

Drawing -Workflow -> Utilities -> Geographic -> Define Placemark Monument

Use source as Google Earth Placemark File and Select those kml file.

6. Define placemarks on the same key points on Reality Mesh\3d Model

7. Once Placemarks are placed, create GCS using placemarks from Drawing -Workflow -> Utilities -> Geographic -> Coordinate System

8. Turn ON Bing map from View Attribute to Verify data is at the correct location. Once all data is placed in the correct location, it is ready to be published into the iModel.
