Draw Wire tool snaps to drawing origin

When I start to draw a wire in Promis-e the Draw Wire tool will snap to the origin point rather than where I click.

If I right click to cancel the operation, when I left click to start drawing a wire again it will snap to the position of the previous right click. If I change tools, then reselect the Draw Wire tool it snaps to the origin again.

This happens in all projects.

I've probably altered a setting without realising exactly what it would effect. Can someone suggest how to stop this?

  • Matt,

I've encountered this same issue since yesterday.  I've tried the two options per below.  The 'restore platform defaults' did not seem to work as described in the article, but I am using Promis*e V8i Series 6 for AutoCAD.  Any other tips?  (Windows 10)

  • Restore Defaults would not work because that is a MicroStation command for the standalone version of Promis.e.  The SS6 version for Autocad is a discontinued product.  It is not certified to run with Windows 10 at all - its too old.  I'd recommend that you work on updating to a currently supported version of the software that is compatible with Windows 10.  The latest version is Select Series 8.  All newer versions of Promis.e since about 2014 are Standalone Microstation based versions so you will need to do so migrating/converting steps to go from your current discontinued acad based version to a newer version.  I'd recommend installing the newer SS8 software on a different machine and doing the steps described in the wiki for SS6 to get those files ready to move to SS8 then start bringing them over into SS8 as soon as possible.  In general it is not a good idea to get too far behind in software and have issue with compatibility to newer OS and other supporting software versions.

To try to get your current version running again if possible you could try making sure you have the latest Acad updates installed for your version.  I believe that would be either Acad 2015 or acad 2012.  I'm not sure if Acad has a "restore defaults" command like Microstation does to reset it back to out of the box settings.  You could perhaps look on Acad's forum to see if they do.  Or you could try uninstalling and reinstalling your acad version.

  • Thanks Tani,

We are looking at our best conversion options to keep up to date, but in the interim, I need to find a way to fix what we have now.  A few extra notes: the wire is retaining its start point, not specifically 0,0.  If we try to route wires with a few turns schematically, the wire retains the same start point each time and does not operate like polyline does.  Polyline function its self works.  Polywire function works as intended, but we don't typically use polywires.  This issue happened site wide, all users' computers running the same Promise has been affected.  I did a complete AutoCAD 2012 re-install.  It did not fix the issue.
