Hi All. Is anyone aware of a method in OPM 568 by which we can only apply insulation to a portion of a line while keeping the same line number? Example: Pipeline 001 travels from one building to another with a small section being outdoors. This section will require some heat conservation insulation, but the components that are inside the building will not. At the present time insualtion appears to be treated on a 'by line number' basis. Even if I override the insulation value for a component through Standard Preferences or even in Element Attributes it always defaults to the isulation value assigned to the connecting component.
Thanks!
David
Hello David,
Rightly observed on it. Partial insulation does not support at the moment. It will set to default even if you try to use it through pipeline Manager dialog. I would suggest you to log a service request to enable us to file an enhancement to it.
At the moment as a workaround you can break the pipeline to sub-pipeline (If permits) & apply insulation to the pipe which requires insulation. I hope that suffice the information.

I hope you are well!
To update this forum link, based on SR # 7000487803, we have logged an Enhancement # 377030 to it. As a workaround, Manually modifying a component and assigning an insulation thickness would do the trick, but it is not at all supported workflow and may impact further by losing its graphics or data.
This SR is currently under review with Product Management Team. Submitting it for your information please.
Please let us know if any update required on it.
Hi Rahul,
Its been 3 years since this post do you know if partial insulation has been added to any of the latest releases?
Thanks Shannon
We also need practical method to add and modify Partial Insulation and Partial Heat Tracing (preferable in OpenPlant CE)
This is my way:
1. Break the pipe into two parts, set different insulation on each parts.
2. Set the weld type to another special type.
3. Revise the iso configuration to let symbol of this weld to "invisible" (very small or only a dot.). And set this weld not reportable if needed.
