Hi,
I have tried to solve the problem I am facing using the former post from Matt_P (https://communities.bentley.com/products/electrical___instrumentation/w/electrical_and_instrumentation__wiki/21652/error-on-backup-odbc-connection).
But when I try to resolve it, using the 3rd step, I have no SQL Server driver in my option list;
Kindly assist me to solve this problem, as before, I accidentally closed Substation, and the whole drawing was gone. That is why I took precaution by backup every day but now, each time I want to backup, ODBC error keeps on popping out.
Thanks.
Hi Sofia. What operating system are you using? Is it 64-bit?
One thing you could try is the following:
@Matt_P , I see. I already check the pc, and it is 64-bit.
Kindly see the attachment below
Ok, that version number corresponds to Windows 7. Please see the post marked as the answer in this thread: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/08380703-836b-44bb-b795-f3d162be8bf1/sql-server-option-missing-in-win7-x64-odbc?forum=w7itprogeneral
For what it's worth, here is what I see in my Windows 7 x64 machine that has a SQL Server ODBC driver:
Hi Matt,
I have already checked the registry & all the steps you recommend, however, all the files are there & when I check the registry, it is the same as your SQL Server ODBC Driver.
After checking the driver, I tried to do a backup, but the same error appears. Can you probably do TeamViewer with me to check the problem?
What version of SQL are you running and is it 32 bit SQL or 64 bit. You already mentioned that the OS is 64 bit but I read and article that said the drivers for 32 bit SQL will not show up in the 64 bit Data Sources admin tool, but the article was older, and may not apply to newer systems: https://weblogs.asp.net/guybarrette/32-bit-odbc-drivers-on-64-bit-windows
