is there way to bring "microstation 3d" models from drawings into "Bentley substation 3d" ? I know it is possible to drag the models into the substation but even though cells retain their cell integrity, they can't be manipulated within substation.
There is a dedicated Forum for Bentley Substation and related products.
In general, any application that uses MicroStation as a platform can manipulate graphics objects.
Perhaps you could elaborate about

PDF this one of our 3d models made in microstation V8i. each individual item within the model is a cell (non-intelligent 3d). we would like to take this model and import it into Bentley Substation drawing and assign the cells intelligence

One approach is to attach the DGN 3D model as a reference in a Substation 3D model. Then copy each component from the reference to the active model.
Once copied, you can detach the reference and add 'intelligence' to the newly-copied cells.
What is Bentley Substation?? Is that for designing sandwich shops or underwater vessels?
