Is there a way to make the balloons snap to the part they are linked with? It is so frustrating switching the grid on and off just to align the balloon with the part it is linked with and at times the balloon goes under the part (as we have priority level set higher to hide terminal text under symbol).
Answered my own question: I'm a modern user of Microstation that uses multi snaps ALWAYS, so have never had the need (nor to be frank the desire) to use tentative snap. sigh....using tentative snap works. Is there now a way to allow multisnap to work?
tentative snap is so cumbersome....half the time it places the balloon instead of indicating snap, plus i have to change my multisnap to another setting for it to work.
Are you using the default Microstation mouse button assignment? If so, try remapping the tentative snap button assignment from left + right button chord to your middle button, and change the left + right button chord to use for view panning. (Workspace > Button Assignments > Remap Buttons) I rarely use the panning so this works well for me. And I guess I am the opposite when it comes to snaps... I think Multisnap is very cumbersome, and strictly use tentative snap. When I need other snaps I use hot keys for them: (I)ntersect, (N)earest, & (C)enter. It's just a matter of preference though, and greatly depends on the work you're doing. Hope that helps.

Hi Trevor. First, consider keeping the Locks tool box open/docked if it is not open already (select Tools > Tool Boxes or CTRL+T, then set the check box for Locks). With the Locks tool box open you can quickly turn Grid Lock on and off.
If you don't want to change the function of your middle mouse button as Jeff suggeted, some users assign a function key to tentative snap. See the "Remapping the Tentative button" section of the Copy with base point to other pages article.
The inability to use snaps while ballooning was reported as defect TFS 6109, and I've added you to the affected list.
awesome Mattski for the balloon snap, you're a good man! Please push the point. Matt, i do have the specific grid lock out...it's a pain in the backside turning off and on all the time. So much so i may have to assign a mouse button to the task. (I use a Logitech G700s)
Thanks Jeff for your suggestion, but in no way do i want to learn tentative snap as it requires commands (even if it's simply clicking one or two buttons). I could have done 4 other commands in the time it takes me to tentative snap :)
